The Texas Derby delivered a dramatic finish as Houston Dynamo FC and FC Dallas played to a 2-2 draw, with three goals arriving in the second half and the decisive moments unfolding deep into stoppage time.

Houston appeared to have secured the victory when Mateusz Bogusz converted a penalty in the 90+4th minute. But FC Dallas responded under pressure, Petar Musa equalized from the penalty spot in the 90+11th minute, and Samuel Sarver was sent off moments later in a chaotic conclusion.

Dallas strikes first, and Musa misses a huge opportunity

FC Dallas took the lead in the 12th minute through Christian Cappis, who finished with his left foot from the left side of the box after a buildup involving Daniel Job and Bernard Kamungo.

Houston struggled to turn its early attacking efforts into a goal, while Dallas had an opportunity to double its advantage in the 29th minute. Petar Musa stepped up to take a penalty, but Houston goalkeeper Jonathan Bond made the save, keeping the Dynamo within reach.

That stop proved crucial. Instead of going into halftime potentially two goals behind, Houston remained alive in the match.

Herrera brings Houston back

Houston came out with renewed urgency after the break, and the response was immediate. In the 49th minute, Héctor Herrera rose inside the box to meet Guilherme Santos' delivery, heading the ball into the upper-right portion of the goal to make it 1-1.

The equalizer shifted the momentum and gave Houston confidence to push for a winner. Both teams continued to create chances, but goalkeepers and defenders repeatedly prevented the breakthrough.

Dallas threatened through Daniel Job and Santiago Moreno, while Houston looked to Herrera, Bogusz, and its attacking options to find a decisive moment.

A wild finish changes everything

As the match entered stoppage time, the tension escalated.

Houston won a penalty, and Bogusz converted in the 90+4th minute to put the Dynamo ahead 2-1. With the clock running down, the home side appeared close to claiming a dramatic derby victory.

Dallas, however, refused to give up. In the 90+11th minute, Musa made amends for his earlier penalty miss, converting from the spot to level the score at 2-2.

The drama continued when Sarver received a red card in the 90+12th minute, leaving Dallas with a disciplinary blow in the closing moments. Houston had one final opportunity through Herrera from outside the box, but his effort sailed over the goal.

The final whistle confirmed a draw after an extraordinary ending.

Match analysis: Houston let victory slip away

Houston deserves credit for recovering from the early deficit. Herrera's equalizer gave the team momentum, and Bogusz's late penalty appeared to deliver the decisive blow. But failing to protect that lead for even a few minutes will be frustrating.

Jonathan Bond's first-half penalty save was one of Houston's most important moments, preventing Dallas from building a bigger advantage. Yet the Dynamo could not finish the job when it mattered most.

For FC Dallas, the result showed resilience. Cappis gave the visitors an early lead, and despite Musa's missed first-half penalty, Dallas kept fighting until the final seconds. Musa's late conversion helped rescue a point, although the red card to Sarver added another layer to an already turbulent finish.
