After a competitive game at BMO at the end of last won that ended with a 2-2 victory for the Black and Gold, LAFC and the Vancouver Whitecaps had their second leg match at BC Place. After a clear victory by the Canadian team, these two usualm rivals will have to play a third game at BMO Stadium next Friday at 8 PM, once again at BMO Stadium in Downtown Los Angeles.
With Cristian Olivera in the right side as a midfielder, LAFC stepped in the turf with Hugo Lloris in the net; tree defenders with Maxime Chanot, captain Aaron Long, and Sergi Palencia; the rest of the midfield had Rayan Hollingshead in the left side, and Timothy Tilman and Lewis O'Brien in the middle; and an attack with Mateus Bogusz, Denis Bouanga and Oliver Giroud as a false 9.
The free space given in the sides allow the Whitecaps to attack with more players,a nd thus, scoring its first goal in the 9th minute. a play started by Ryan Guild ended with a goal by the same player. After a rebound, the Scottish midfielder gave the first out of three goals for Vancouver. I did not take that long for the Canadian team to further their advantage in the score; however, it was through an LAFC player that second goal took place, this at the 13th minute. A corner in the left had two deflections that give the Whitecaps a third play. Such chance had Stuart Armstrong assisting Ryan Gauld alone outside the area. The Scottish delivered the ball seeking for a teammate to score, but it was LAFC winger Rayan Hollingshead who scored an own goal. Fafa Picault almost scored the thrrd goal by striking the ball from outside the box to the left post, but Hugo Lloris responded with a good save, this at the 29th minute.
As it usually happens when LAFC is in a performance or score predicament, Denis Bouanga run throughout both sides, took the ball and created his own chances, but nothing went through the net defended by Japanese goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka.
At the 68th minute, Brian White with the assist and Ryan Gauld with the touch inside the area gave the Whitecaps its third and definitive goal. Unfortunately, the final touch was by LAFC Colombian defender Eddie Segura. Thus, the Whitecaps won 3-0, and a third and final game will take place at BMO Stadium next Friday.
