Before facing the US Open Cup final, LAFC traveled to Frisco, Texas to play against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium. The Black and Gold had a 1-1 drew against fellow Texan team Austin FC at BMO Stadium: meanwhile, FC Dallas returned to their field after a losing 3-2 to Real Salt Lake.
With seven changed in their starting lineup, LAFC went with the debut of goalkeeper Thomas Hasal; a backline with Eddie Segura and Maxime Chanot as central defenders; Ommar Campos and Rayan Hollingshead on the wings; Timothy Tilman, Lewis O’Brien and Eduard Atuesta In the midfield; and youngsters Nathan Ordaz and David Martinez with the experienced Kei Kamara in offense,
Even though LAFC tried through long distance shots to open the score, it was the home team that took the advantage at the 28th minute. Peter Musa took the ball in the midfield, drove it with facility and stroke outside the box to place the firs tot three goals for Dallas. The second and third goal came with a two-minute difference. In the 60th, Patrikcson Delgado scored outside the box after a couple of first touch passes by Paul Arriola and Logan Farrington. Two minutes later, it was Logan Ferrington who placed the ball through Thomas Hasal first post with an assist on the right side by club veteran Jesus Ferreira.
Eduard Atuesta placed a solitary goal for the LAFC at the 85th minute, A shot outside the box took a deflection. Thus, FC Dallas defeated LAFC 3-1.
Main starters like Oliver Giroud and Denis Bouanga were brought in the second half, On the other hand, Carlos Vela did not appear in the field nor the bench.
LAFC returns to BMO Stadium to play against Sporting Kansas City in the US Open Cup Final. FC Dallas hosts Orlando City next Saturday.
