Seattle Sounders FC and CF Montréal shared the points in a 1-1 draw after a match that featured two different phases of control, missed opportunities, and late drama at both ends of the pitch.

Montréal made the most of its early opportunity in the 13th minute. Hennadii Synchuk finished from inside the box after Noah Streit helped create the chance, with Alexis Sánchez also involved in the buildup. The visitors took a 1-0 lead and forced Seattle to chase the game.

Seattle struggled to turn its possession and attacking pressure into a breakthrough during the first half. Jordan Morris tested goalkeeper Sébastian Breza with a header in the 30th minute, but Montréal went into halftime with the advantage.

The Sounders made changes at the break, bringing on Kalani Kossa-Rienzi and Sebastián Gómez. Those adjustments helped Seattle find a response, and the home side gradually increased its attacking threat.

The equalizer arrived in the 66th minute. Gómez finished with his right foot into the bottom-right corner to make it 1-1, rewarding Seattle's increased pressure after the interval.

Seattle created the chances to win

The equalizer changed the momentum, and Seattle had opportunities to complete the comeback. Morris forced a save from Breza in the 62nd minute, while Dejan Joveljić also saw a promising effort blocked during the same sequence.

Morris came closest to putting Seattle ahead when he struck the left post in the 70th minute. Jesús Ferreira then missed a significant opportunity from inside the box. Those moments highlighted Seattle's main problem: the team generated dangerous chances but lacked the finishing touch to turn its second-half pressure into three points.

Sebastián Gómez's goal was important, but Seattle needed greater efficiency in front of goal to capitalize on its attacking momentum.

Montréal remained dangerous on the counter

Despite Seattle's pressure, Montréal continued to threaten when space opened up. The visitors nearly delivered a decisive blow in the 89th minute, when Wikelman Carmona struck the right post from inside the box.

That opportunity showed why Montréal remained in the contest. Seattle committed numbers forward in search of a winner, leaving opportunities for the visitors to attack in transition. Montréal could not take advantage, and both sides had further chances in stoppage time.

The tactical takeaway

Seattle's second-half response demonstrated its ability to adjust and put pressure on an opponent, but the draw also exposed the difference between creating chances and finishing them. The Sounders had opportunities to turn one point into three, particularly during the spell surrounding Gómez's equalizer.

For Montréal, taking an early lead and surviving sustained pressure was a positive, although Carmona's late chance offered a reminder that the visitors could have left Seattle with a victory.

Final Score: Seattle Sounders FC 1-1 CF Montréal
