The Crew Defeats LAFC AGAIN

Updated: 3 days ago

The two last MLS Cup final participants, the two last Major League Soccer champions, the last venue for the final; the Leagues Cup final between Columbus Crew and Los Angeles Football Club had plenty of elements to bring exciting levels. CONCACAF Champions Cup also saw these two teams in the last stage, against Leon and Pachuca respectively. Neither MLS team defeated Liga MX, a very different outcome to what happened with the teams of this league in this controversial tournament.

Both teams had a similar 3-4-3 formation. The Crew had former LAFC members Cristan Ramirez and Diego Rossi with Juan Camilo Hernandez in attack. Mohamed Farsi and Sean Sawanzki were the outstanding players in the midfield.

The Black and Gold had Oliver Giroud in his first game in the starting lineup. Mateusz Bogusz and DP player Denis Bouanga in attack. Rayan Hollignshead and Sergi Palencia were the outstanding elements in the midfield for they play in defense normally.

The first goal came at the end of the first half. A great combination between Farsi and Swwanski ended with a great header by Juan Camilo Hernande giving the Crew the 1-0 advantage. In the twelve minutes of the second half, a great corner kick by Mateusz Bogusz ended with a header by Oliver Giroud giving the Black and Gold the equalizer

The rest of the second half saw the ball going back and forth in both areas. It wasn’t until stoppage time when Juan Camilo Hernandez took the ball on the left side and delivered the ball, no one touched it and thus gave the advantage to Columbus. With an opponent mentally defeated, Rusell Rowe scored the third and definitive goal to give the Crew its second trophy in eight months, yet again against LAFC.
