Austin FC Complete Stunning Comeback to Draw San Diego FC 3-3

AUSTIN, TX — Austin FC completed a dramatic comeback to earn a 3-3 draw against San Diego FC, recovering from a three-goal deficit with three unanswered goals in the final stages of the match.
San Diego appeared to have complete control after building a 3-0 lead, but Austin refused to give up and produced an extraordinary late comeback.
San Diego Takes Control
The first half ended scoreless, with both teams unable to break through despite several opportunities.
Austin created chances through Brandon Vázquez and Facundo Torres, while San Diego goalkeeper Duran Ferree made important saves to keep the match level.
The match changed immediately after halftime.
In the 50th minute, Aníbal Godoy opened the scoring for San Diego with a right-footed finish from the center of the box.
Eight minutes later, San Diego doubled its advantage when Mikkel Desler scored an own goal, putting Austin in a 2-0 hole.
San Diego then appeared to put the match out of reach in the 64th minute.
Marcus Ingvartsen scored to make it 3-0, finishing from inside the box after assists from Anders Dreyer and Cédric Bakambu.
Austin Begins the Comeback
Austin's response began in the 73rd minute.
Brandon Vázquez pulled one goal back with a header from the center of the box, assisted by Ervin Torres, with Ilie Sánchez providing the second assist.
The goal gave Austin renewed momentum.
Nine minutes later, Vázquez struck again.
In the 82nd minute, the forward scored another header, this time assisted by Jon Bell, with Mikkel Desler credited with the second assist. The goal made it 3-2.
Ramírez Completes the Comeback
Austin completed the comeback just four minutes later.
In the 86th minute, Christian Ramírez scored from the right side of the box to level the match at 3-3. Jon Gallagher provided the assist, with Ervin Torres credited with the second assist.
The final minutes belonged almost entirely to San Diego as the visitors pushed for a fourth goal.
San Diego created multiple chances during stoppage time, but Austin goalkeeper Damian Las and the Austin defense held firm. Las saved efforts from Alejandro Alvarado and Kieran Sargeant, while Cédric Bakambu sent a late opportunity over the crossbar.
After nine minutes of stoppage time, the referee brought the match to an end.
