By Alonso Contreras

Croatia national football team came from behind to secure a 2–1 victory over Colombia national football team in a competitive and physical contest defined by early goals and late resistance.

Colombia made a dream start, striking in just the 2nd minute through Jhon Arias, who finished from close range to give the hosts an immediate advantage. The early goal energized Colombia, who looked dangerous in the opening minutes, creating chances through Luis Díaz and Luis Suárez.

However, Croatia responded almost instantly. Just minutes later, Luka Vušković leveled the match with a powerful strike from distance, bringing the visitors right back into the game.

The tempo remained high throughout the first half, with both sides exchanging chances. Colombia came close to regaining the lead when Daniel Muñoz hit the post, while Croatia tested Camilo Vargas on multiple occasions.

Croatia took control just before halftime. In the 42nd minute, Igor Matanović rose inside the box to head home from a corner, giving Croatia a 2–1 lead heading into the break.

The second half saw Colombia push forward in search of an equalizer. James Rodríguez and Díaz both forced important saves from Dominik Livaković, who delivered a standout performance between the posts.

Croatia remained dangerous on the counter, coming close to extending their lead as Petar Musa struck the woodwork. Meanwhile, the midfield control of Luka Modrić helped Croatia manage the tempo in the closing stages.

Colombia threw everything forward late, creating a series of corners and half-chances in stoppage time, but were unable to find the breakthrough as Croatia’s defense held firm under pressure.

Final Score: Colombia 1–2 Croatia

A disciplined and resilient performance sees Croatia claim the win, while Colombia will be left to reflect on missed opportunities after a strong start.
