Both women's national teams will play on July 13 and July 16 at Estadio Las Delicias, home of the Santa Tecla FC.
The Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT), in association with the Salvadoran National Sports Institute (INDES), announced this Monday afternoon details of the two-game international friendly series agreed between the senior women's teams of El Salvador and Peru, matches scheduled on the artificial grass of the Las Delicias de Santa Tecla stadium on July 13 and July 16 of this month, both at 7:30 pm, with prices of $3 and $5, all. Funds generated from the box office will be granted to support the work of our country's women's team.
The table of honor was made up of the national team, Priscila Ortiz, Alianza Women player and captain of the senior women's team; Yamil Bukele, president of INDES; Ćrick AcuƱa Jubis, technical director of our country's women's teams; and Diogo Gama, Director of FESFUT National Teams.
"This is a joint effort; I thank FESFUT for taking INDES into account; the senior women's team of Peru and El Salvador will have two friendlies as part of their preparation. We, as INDES, always have a policy of supporting all sports federations, and this time, it will not be the exception," Yamil Bukele said at the start of the press conference.
"I want to announce that from July 8 to 17, we will have a Peruvian team with a training base in our country. INDES will support with accommodation and food for Peru in our country." Bukele said.
For his part, Diogo Gama commented, "We as FESFUT are grateful for the logistical support we are receiving from INDES for these two friendlies against Peru. It is important to pave the way to qualifying for the Women's World Cup."
Meanwhile, Ćrick AcuƱa highlighted that "my motto is El Salvador is all of us, and in this series, the help is tacit. I am happy about all this. I appreciate Yamil's response when we made him aware of the help we needed to carry out these two training sessions in our country, and his response was a resounding yes to what we requested," confessed the national strategist.
Regarding the reasons why the two games will be played in Santa Tecla and not in the MƔgico GonzƔlez, Bukele responded that "an international athletics competition has just ended, and the field suffered blows and falls from that tournament, so the field is reviewing the mistreatment, the stadium received, we must plant new grass, and we must wait for the new grass to stand out later.
Apart from that, soccer club Luis Ćngel Firpo requested the stadium for its international matches, and out of respect for that club, we want the field to be recovered by August. Next," he explained.
The senior women's team held two friendlies last June in Bolivia, winning 2-1 and 2-0 against the South American team as part of their work plan for the World Cup qualifiers in February 2025. The women's team looks solid so far in 2024.
