FC Cincinnati's Goal Scoring Streak Continues

CINCINNATI, OH - FC Cincinnati win a 7 goal thriller as MLS play resumes after the 2026 World Cup.

Per Elias Sports, FC Cincinnati tied the 4th longest streak in MLS history for consecutive matches with multiple goal scored, reaching nine goals going back to a 1-1 draw in Toronto on April 11.

FC Cincinnati clearly still have their defensive vulnerabilities, but the recent stretch has proven to get results for FC Cincinnati - who are 4-1-4 in that stretch.

The first match of the streak aligns with Evander's first goal of the seasons, a PK he scored in a 3-3 draw against Chicago at home. In that stretch of 9 matches, Evander has 10 goals and 6 assists (16 G/A), a higher G/A clip than his MVP finalist campaign of 2025 - 33 G/A in 32 matches.

"I wanted to keep doing the same as when I finished the first part of the season," Evander said after the match. After a slow start to his 2026 campaign, Evander hit form right before the World Cup break and if Wednesday's match is any indication, he's carried that form into the second half of the season. "I'm happy that I'm still maintaining that same level."

FC Cincinnati still will have a lot to work on. Two goals conceded within three minutes of scoring, a issue that isn't new for this group. Both goals came from a shot at the top of the box and Cincinnati's double pivot not marking the free man.

9' Cincinnati opens the scoring through Pavel Bucha.

12' Vancouver equalizes with Jeevan Badwal an unmarked runner crashing the box. Places a first time finish into the bottom right corner of goal past a diving Celentano.

56' Cincinnati doubles their lead to 4-2 through Pavel Bucha.

58' Brian White pushes CBs back by making a run inside the box with RW Jeevan Badwal on the ball, both holding midfielders in Valenzuela and Nwobodo sink deep and shift towards the ball leaving Ryan Gauld wide open at the top of the box. Gauld curls a shot past Celentano.

Valenzuela is of course in the lineup for his passing and ball progressing qualities, originially a more attacking midfield prospect when he was a part of FC Cincinnati 2 and the first team in years past. But the goals Cincinnati conceded could have been defended better by the homegrown talent. Not entirely his fault, but probably chances he'll want back.
