Son and Bouanga Lead LAFC Win at Q2 Stadium

The second game between Austin FC and Los Angeles Football Club took place at Q2 Stadium. In the first leg, hosted at BMO Stadium, ended in a 2-1 victory for the Blaxk and Gold. A solitary goal by Jon Gallagher we’re not enough for the Texan roster; an own goal by Brendan Hires-Ike and a goal by Nathan Ordaz gave the momentary advantage to the 2022 MLS Cup winner.

The third goal, scored at the 44th minute, started to a long pass by Ryan Porteous, moved forward with a header assist by Rayan Hollingshead and finished with Denis Bouanga passing through two Austin FC defenders. Seeking more competitiveness, Niko Steve’s made three changes on halftime: CJ Forley replaced Robert Taylor and the center backs Zan Kolnavic and Julio Castante entered the field replacing Jon Gallagher and Oleksandr Svatok. In spite of the fresh legs both in defense and offense, Austin FC only competed through set pieces. Julio Cascange scored the temporary 3-2, but the goal was called-up by VAR due to an offside.
