Updated: 3 days ago

Columbus Crew Will face its second final in less than a year. The current Major League Soccer champions will face the winner between LAFC and Colorado Rapids. Philadelphia Union will go against the loser of the match that will take place at BMO Stadium.

The Union steed to Mapfre Stadium with a conservative 4-2-1-2. Andrew Blake in goal, Jack Elliot in defense, Leon Flach as defensive midfielder Alejandro Bedolla and Jack McCynn in front, and an old-fashioned number 10 Daniel Gazgag. It was the 28-year-old attacker who scored the goal for his team in the 32nd minute that gave the Union the temporal draw. However, it was the Crew who was more effective.

Columbus Crew had a vertical version of a 3-4-2-1. A lineup that could also be interpreted as a 4-3-3 had a threatening trio with Diego Rossi, Cristian Ramirez, and Juan Camilo Hernandez as a ¨9¨. ¨Cucho¨ opened the door with a long-distance shot that was rejected by Andrew Blake. Diego Rossi was at the right place at the right time to place the first of his two goals, at the 12th minute. In the 43rd  minute, an outstanding volley assist by Cristian Ramirez was finished by the Uruguayan striker with a single touch. Before the end of the second half, the score was 2-1 In favor of the home team.

The third and final goal for Columbus took place in the 53rd minute. Mohamed Farsi took the ball in the middle and passed to Cristian Ramirez. The ball was placed in the right corner, where Steven Moreira delivered the ball to the space. Such an empty location was fulfilled by an outstanding header by Juan Camilo Hernandez giving the 3’-1 advantage, the final score, and the pass to the last game of the Leagues Cup.

Columbus will play the winner between LAFC and Colorado Rapids. Regardless of the opponent, the final will take place in the state of Ohio, Mapfre Stadium to be more specific.
