The Official Asado of the National Team Has a Name

By Sofia Pisano

Just days away from the start of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Lionel Scaloni took part in an exclusive event in Miami that marked a key partnership between Baires Grill and the Argentine Football Association (AFA). But this wasn’t just a football gathering — it was a heartfelt nod to the Argentine community abroad, a tribute to identity, roots, and the beautiful game as a cultural bridge.

Miami has become a hotspot for Argentinians living outside their homeland. Its diversity, Latin energy, and booming soccer culture made it the perfect stage for this kind of initiative. During the event, Scaloni summed up his view of both the sport and life with a simple yet powerful phrase:

“Being a good person is just as important as knowing how to play football.”

The AFA-Baires Grill alliance — with the restaurant being a symbol of Buenos Aires cuisine in the U.S. — goes beyond business. It’s a declaration of shared values. Founded in 1999, Baires Grill now boasts eight locations (seven in Florida and one in New York), and it’s officially the Argentine National Team’s restaurant in the U.S.

This partnership opens the door to experiencing international tournaments in a whole new way: from exclusive gatherings to themed matchday events for La Albiceleste — all crafted for Argentine fans, Latinos, and football lovers everywhere.

With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, the MLS booming, and the Gold Cup looming, the AFA is going all in to strengthen its presence in the U.S. Not just to connect with the diaspora, but also to reach new fans who see football as a symbol of belonging and community.

And this is just kickoff. In June, a special commemorative celebration will take place at Baires Grill, and we’ll be there bringing you all the behind-the-scenes action, every detail, and more.

Argentina doesn’t just shine on the pitch — it brings its identity to every place where there’s a ball, a flag, and a crowd ready to celebrate.
