Columbus Crew delivered a composed and commanding performance at home, defeating Atlanta United FC 2-0 behind first-half goals from Sekou Bangoura and Diego Rossi.
The Crew controlled the tempo early and nearly opened the scoring through Diego Rossi, who struck the post in the 17th minute after forcing a save moments earlier from Lucas Hoyos. Columbus continued to push forward, and the breakthrough arrived in the 24th minute when Sekou Bangoura finished from close range after an excellent setup by Mohamed Farsi and Rossi.
Atlanta struggled to create clear opportunities in the opening half while Columbus continued to threaten in transition. Just before halftime, Diego Rossi doubled the lead in stoppage time, calmly finishing inside the box after another assist from Mohamed Farsi to give the Crew a deserved 2-0 advantage.
Atlanta showed more urgency after the break, generating chances through Sergio Santos, Alexey Miranchuk, Jay Fortune, and Tristan Muyumba, but Columbus remained defensively organized. Patrick Schulte produced important saves, while Rudy Camacho and Mohamed Farsi repeatedly stepped in with key blocks to frustrate Atlanta’s attack.
The match grew increasingly physical late on, with multiple yellow cards shown in stoppage time, but Columbus comfortably managed the final minutes to secure all three points and another strong home result.
