INTER MIAMI LET IT SLIP AWAY AGAIN: MESSI ASSISTS, CASEMIRO SCORES, BUT ATLANTA FIGHTS BACK FOR 2-2 DRAW

Inter Miami CF appeared to be on course for another important victory, but Atlanta United produced a dramatic late comeback to leave South Florida with a 2-2 draw.

Miami twice took the lead, including a first-half goal from Casemiro assisted by Lionel Messi and a second goal from Luis Suárez. But Atlanta refused to surrender, with Miguel Almirón bringing the visitors level before Breel Embolo converted a late penalty in the 87th minute.

The final minutes belonged almost entirely to Inter Miami. Messi and his teammates pushed aggressively for a winner, creating several chances during an extended period of stoppage time. But Atlanta goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos and the visiting defense held firm.

CASEMIRO GIVES MIAMI THE LEAD

Inter Miami started with attacking intent, while Atlanta looked to threaten in transition.

But Dayne St. Clair came up with a massive save.

Almirón's left-footed penalty was stopped, keeping Miami in front at 2-1.

At that moment, it looked like Miami might survive Atlanta's pressure.

But the visitors continued pushing.

EMBolo FINALLY BREAKS THROUGH

Atlanta kept attacking, and Miami struggled to regain complete control of the match.

The pressure eventually paid off.

In the 87th minute, Atlanta was awarded another penalty.

This time, Breel Embolo stepped up.

The Atlanta striker calmly converted from the spot, beating St. Clair to make it 2-2.

The late equalizer completely changed the atmosphere.

Miami suddenly had to chase the match again.

MESSI PUSHES FOR THE WINNER

Despite conceding so late, Inter Miami did not settle for the draw.

The final minutes became a relentless attacking sequence from the home side.

But Atlanta survived.

A DRAW THAT FEELS LIKE TWO POINTS DROPPED

For Inter Miami, the final score will undoubtedly feel disappointing.

Miami led 1-0, conceded, then regained the advantage at 2-1.

They even had the opportunity to protect that lead after St. Clair saved Almirón's penalty.

But Atlanta's persistence eventually produced another chance from the spot, and Embolo made no mistake.

The biggest positive for Miami was its attacking production. The team created enough opportunities to win the match, particularly during the frantic closing stages.

The concern, however, was defensive control.

Atlanta repeatedly found ways to enter dangerous areas, especially as the match progressed, forcing Miami deeper and putting sustained pressure on the back line.

MESSI STILL MAKING THE DIFFERENCE

Even without finding the net, Messi remained one of Miami's most influential players.

The Argentine assisted Casemiro's opening goal, provided the second assist on Suárez's goal, created dangerous situations and continued to be the primary source of creativity in the final third.

His involvement in both Miami goals once again demonstrated how heavily the team's attacking production depends on his ability to create chances.

But soccer is ultimately decided by both ends of the field.

Miami had enough attacking quality to score twice.

It couldn't do enough defensively to protect the lead.
