Lewandowski Strikes Late as Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire Share the Points in 2–2 Draw

The Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire FC played to an entertaining 2–2 draw, with Robert Lewandowski scoring an 82nd-minute equalizer to deny Seattle all three points in a dramatic finish.

Seattle started the match with purpose and quickly found the breakthrough. In the 12th minute, Dejan Joveljić opened the scoring with a right-footed finish from inside the box, converting a cross from Sebastian Gomez after good work from Kalani Kossa-Rienzi.

Chicago responded as the first half progressed and began creating more pressure around Seattle's penalty area. Philip Zinckernagel came close in the 37th minute when his effort struck the crossbar.

Just one minute later, Chicago found the equalizer. Maren Haile-Selassie finished from inside the box after a combination involving Robert Lewandowski and Andrew Gutman, making it 1–1.

Seattle goalkeeper Andrew Thomas played an important role before halftime, making several saves to keep the score level, including stops against Zinckernagel and Dje D’Avilla.

Seattle regained the lead shortly after the restart.

In the 48th minute, Joveljić scored his second goal of the night, producing a well-placed right-footed shot from outside the box that found the top-left corner. Albert Rusnák provided the assist, with Snyder Brunell involved in the buildup.

Chicago refused to go away.

The Fire continued to push forward and created several opportunities as the match entered its final stages. Thomas made another important save in the 83rd minute to deny Lewandowski, but the Chicago striker would not be denied for long.

Just a minute earlier, Lewandowski had already put himself in dangerous positions, and in the 82nd minute he finally found the breakthrough. Puso Dithejane delivered the assist, with Maren Haile-Selassie providing the second assist, as Lewandowski rose in the box and headed the ball into the top-left corner.



The late goal made it 2–2 and set up a frantic finish.

Chicago continued searching for a winner during stoppage time, forcing Seattle's defense to work under pressure. Sam Rogers had two attempts blocked in the 91st minute, while Andrew Gutman and Maren Haile-Selassie also tested the Seattle defense.

Seattle survived the late pressure, and the final whistle confirmed a share of the points.

Joveljić's brace appeared to put Seattle in position for victory, but Lewandowski's late header changed the story. Chicago showed resilience until the final whistle, while Seattle will feel that a strong performance was not fully rewarded with three points.
