Oliver Giroud Farewell Finishes with Defeat

The month of June, which included two Major League Soccer games and three matches at the Club World Cup, saw LAFC get a solitary victory against Spotting Kansas City. Hours ago, they lost for the fourth time, in this case 1-0 against Western Conferebce leaders Vancouver Whitecaps.



Both teams entered BMO Stadium with a propositive 4-3-3 formation. With Oliver Giroud playing his last game as a LAFC player, he had newest Bladk and Gold striker Javairow Dilroaum in one side and Deaignated Player Denis Bouanga on the other. Frankie Amaya in the midfield and David Ochoa on goal were also new faces on the starting XI. In the case of the Canadian team and without its best striker Brian White due to National Team duty, Daniel Rios took his place as a center forward. Eder Ocanoo and Emanuel Sabbi were the other two attacking threats for the recent CONCACAF Cup finalists.

In the net. At the 20th minute, Emanuel Sabbi recuperated the ball in the opponents area and passed it to Jeevan Badwal. The Canadian midfielder returned it to Sabbi. After a good control and a Lyft, Sabbi scored the first and only goak of the game.


Most of the chances for LAFC came though long distance shooting. In the second half;however, Oliver Giroud found himself in front of the goal at the fourth minute after an outstanding assist by Denis Bouanga. The farewell of the World Cup winner did not have a happy ending, for the ball went out wide,

At the 59th minute, the former Arsenal and AC Milan player was subbed giving his place to Nathan Ordaz. While leaving the field, the crowd applauded him. His effort was recognized by the Black and Gold faithful. Thus, Giroud leaves LAFC with 38 games, 5 goals and 5 assists.


After the emotive moment, the game had the same tendency: an attacking Black and Gld but with Sergi Palencia more involved in the right side.


Thus, LAFC lost at BMO once again. Steve Cherundolo’s team travels to Texas to play against Austin FC. The Whitecaps will take part of the July 4th festivities when they play against the other team in Los Angeles, currently t MLS Cup holders LA Galaxy.
