San Jose Earthquakes stunned Portland Timbers with a dominant 3-1 road victory at Providence Park

By Adam Luna

San Jose struck early in the 2nd minute and never looked back. Preston Judd doubled the lead in the 12th minute after a sharp assist from Nick Fernandez, putting the visitors firmly in control. Portland responded through Antony Alves Santos in the 18th minute after a well-worked move involving David Da Costa and Jimer Fory, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

The Earthquakes answered quickly. Defender Daniel Munie restored the two-goal cushion in the 24th minute, finishing from close range after Jack Skahan’s delivery to make it 3-1 before halftime.

Portland pushed hard in the second half, creating multiple dangerous chances through Kevin Kelsy, Ariel Lassiter, Juan Mosquera, and Ian Smith, but goalkeeper Daniel De Sousa Britto delivered a standout performance with several key saves to preserve San Jose’s lead.

Despite the Timbers generating opportunities and controlling stretches of possession late in the match, San Jose remained organized defensively and managed the game effectively to secure all three points on the road.
