The decisive moment came early. In just the 9th minute, David Martínez finished a well-worked move, placing his shot into the top of the net after a setup from Timothy Tillman to give LAFC a 1-0 lead.
Minnesota responded with sustained pressure throughout the match, creating multiple chances, particularly through James Rodríguez, who was heavily involved in set pieces and long-range efforts. The hosts registered several attempts inside the box, including a high-quality chance from Mamadou Dieng, but were repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and a disciplined LAFC backline.
The second half saw Minnesota push forward even more aggressively, dominating possession and forcing a series of corners in the closing minutes. However, LAFC remained compact defensively, with key blocks from Eddie Segura and Nkosi Tafari preserving the lead.
Despite late pressure, including multiple stoppage-time attempts and set pieces, Minnesota could not find the equalizer, and LAFC held on for a valuable away win.
Final Score: Minnesota United FC 0–1 Los Angeles Football ClubGoal:
Martínez 9’ (LAFC)
A clinical early strike and resilient defending proved enough for LAFC, while Minnesota will feel frustrated after failing to capitalize on their chances.
