Early this morning, reports have come out of Poland saying Red Bull New York is in negotiations to sign striker Wiktor Bogacz from Polish second-division club Miedz Legnica.
According to Polish reporter Tomasz WÅodarczyk, Red Bull has offered Miedz Legnica over 1.5 million euros for the player. This is the second striker that Red Bull has reportedly made an offer for, the first being Daniel Fila, which was rejected by Czechia club Slavia Praha and reportedly $3.5 million.
At 20 years old, Bogacz looks like a raw talent hidden in Poland's 2nd division. Standing nearly 6'4, this is the type of striker Red Bull is looking for and would be expected to fill the team's third and final U22 initiative slot on the roster.
Last season, Bogacz finally saw meaningful minutes for the club in March and wound up playing in 14 games. In that period, Bogacz scored five goals in just 600', four of which came in his last two games.
Bogacz has kept his form alive to start the new season, starting all three games to open the season for Miedz Legnica and scoring twice. (Goals above at 0:40 & 1:30)
Red Bull isn't the only team interested in Bogacz as Juventus, among others, currently has a bid at one million euros. Miedz Legnica has been unwilling to sell Bogacz all summer but it seems that with, "such an attractive offer, it may be very difficult to keep him before the window closes." according to WÅodarczyk. The sales record for the 2nd Division in Poland is 1.8 million euros for Jan SobociÅski when he moved to Charlotte from ÅKS in the summer of 2021.
The MLS secondary transfer window closes on August 14th as Red Bull Head of Sport Jochen Schneider looks to sign a midfielder alongside said U22 striker. The clock is ticking at Red Bull's training facility in Whippany, New Jersey.
